Overview of common hemoglobin variants and thalassemia, with a focus on testing modalities and an approach for testing interpretation.
At the end of the sessions, participants will be able to:
- Utilize a practical approach to the investigation of hemoglobinopathies.
- Describe various testing modalities used.
- List implications of common hemoglobinopathies.
- Recognize normal results through childhood and adult, as well as identify common variants.
- Demonstrate when to refer samples to a reference lab for further investigation.
