Description

Although there is are many neurodegenerative conditions, three dementias (Alzheimer, Lewy body, and frontotemporal) represent the vast majority of cases. The clinical course and pathologic findings of these three diseases will be compared and contrasted. Antibody selection as key to diagnosis and the most current consensus criteria for reporting will be emphasized.

Objectives

  • Delineate the clinical presentations and courses of the three most common neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Review the defining immunohistochemical features of each disease.
  • Review consensus diagnostic criteria and their correlation with disease severity.
