In this session we will review the common inflammatory reaction patterns in the skin and identify examples of each. We will go over common neoplasms in the skin, including melanocytic, mesenchymal, adnexal, and epithelial lesions. Staging of malignant cutaneous tumors including melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma will be discussed, and clues to various specific diagnoses will be reviewed.
At the end of the sessions, participants will be able to:
- Describe the histologic features of the common cutaneous inflammatory reaction patterns and cite examples of each.
- Recognize common benign and malignant cutaneous neoplasms.
- Understand the diagnosis and staging of melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma.
