This presentation will discuss the immunohistochemical test in terms of the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical variables that influence the test. The importance of appropriate selection of on-slide controls for test calibration and monitoring of test performance will be explained. Test calibration and validation will be reviewed. The importance of external quality control will be discussed.
