    Dr. Kelly Dakin Hache

    Kelly Dakin Hache is an anatomical pathologist at the QE II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax (Nova Scotia Health Authority – Central Zone). She specializes in orthopedic pathology and breast pathology. She is the medical director of the immunohistochemistry laboratory. She completed a BSc at Mount Allison University, a PhD at Queens University, Medicine and Residency at Dalhousie University and a fellowship in Orthopedic Pathology at the University of Chicago Medical Centre.

Description

This is a review of important principles regarding technical and practical aspects of the immunohistochemical test.

Objectives

  1. List variables that influence the results of immunohistochemical tests.
  2. Understand selection of appropriate normal tissue controls.
  3. Identify specific recommendations for use of positive and negative control tissues.
  4. Understand principles of test calibration and validation.
  5. Recognize importance of external quality control.
