Description
The presentation will focus on the task of a pathologist examining lymphoid Infiltrates in the bone marrow. This can be an important part of the workup of lymphoma and is often done for staging. A diagnosis of lymphoma may be initially made on a bone marrow biopsy. The presentation will provide case examples and a guide to diagnosis.
Objectives
- Distinguish the lymphomas from reactive lymphoid hyperplasia.
- Recognize patterns of bone marrow involvement by lymphoma.
- Classify the type of lymphoma according to WHO classification.
- Assist in staging the patient.
- Provide sufficient phenotypic information to the clinician so that he or she can use any of the immunologic based treatment modalities available.
