This session will review important aspects of Medical Microbiology, including the clinical relevance of select microorganisms, how they are detected and identified, susceptibility testing, and quality assurance, in the context of laboratory analytical phases.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe processes in Microbiology in the context of analytical phases
- Discuss key methods in detection and identification of clinically relevant microorganisms
- Discuss analytical and post-analytical aspects of antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Recognize key performance indicators and other quality measures in Microbiology
