    Dr. David Hwang is a pulmonary pathologist and Co-Chief (Laboratory Medicine) of the Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. He has been actively involved in lung cancer predictive biomarker testing since the initiation of EGFR testing in Canada in 2010. He has served as Chair of the Lung Expert Review Panel for the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, and as a member of the Pathology Committee for the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.

Description

This session will provide a brief review of thoracic pathology, including neoplastic and non-neoplastic lung pathology, and neoplastic pleural and mediastinal pathology.

Objectives

  1. Differentiate the common subtypes of lung carcinomas according to the 2021 WHO classification.
  2. Identify the most common types of interstitial lung disease.
  3. Have an approach to diagnosing suspicious pleural lesions.
  4. Discuss the differential diagnosis of anterior mediastinal tumours.
